They were randomly divided into two groups; one received PEMF therapy early, while the other got a fake (sham) treatment. The researchers checked how well the bones were healing every three months. 

After three months, the PEMF group had more patients with healed fractures. By the end of the study, PEMF treatment conducted for an average of 4.8 months led to a success rate of 77.4%. This was significantly higher than the sham, which had an average duration of 4.4 months and a success rate of 48.1%.

Starting PEMF therapy early led to a significantly higher healing rate and less overall suffering time for patients, compared to waiting 6 months or more to start PEMF, as other studies have done.
